Official Contest Rules

Bash Weekly Cash Draw. Version [v1], effective [date]. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Void where prohibited.

1. Sponsor

The contest is run by [legal name of the operator, business address, contact email] (the "Sponsor").

2. Who can enter

You must be a resident of one of these provinces: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island or Saskatchewan, and have reached the age of majority in your province (19 in British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia; 18 in the other listed provinces). Residents of Quebec and of the territories are not eligible at this time. Employees of the Sponsor and members of their households are not eligible [confirm; beta testers who are friends or coworkers of the Sponsor are eligible only if the lawyer agrees]. One account per person, using a mobile number that belongs to you. Virtual and VoIP numbers are not accepted.

3. Contest periods

There is a new draw every week. Each weekly contest period starts Friday at 12:00:00 AM (midnight) Mountain Time and ends Thursday at 11:59:59 PM Mountain Time (the "Close"). A game you start before the Close counts toward that week's draw if you finish it within the time allowed by the app. The winner is selected and announced on the Friday after the Close at 12:00 PM Mountain Time. The first contest period begins on [date] and the contest runs until [date / until further notice].

4. How to enter (free)

Create a free account and play. Each day the app offers three games, and every player gets the same three. Every point you score in a game is one entry in that week's draw. No purchase or payment of any kind is required to play or to enter. You may earn further entries as follows: [streak bonus: entries for playing on 7, 14 and 30 days in a row], and one bonus game for each friend you invite who verifies a mobile number and plays a game. Bonus games can be played once earned. You may play each daily game once per day, plus any bonus games you have earned. Scores that look implausible are held and reviewed, and earn no entries unless approved.

5. The prize and the odds

One prize per week: CAD $100 in cash, paid by Interac e-Transfer. The odds of winning depend on how many entries you have compared with all entries received that week. Your chance is shown in the app.

6. How the winner is selected

After the Close, the entries received are frozen. The winner is selected in a random draw where each entry has an equal chance, using a computer-generated random seed. The seed's fingerprint is recorded before the week begins and the seed and the list of entries (without names) are published after the announcement, so anyone can check that the draw was run as described at the audit page [link to the published audit for each week].

7. Claiming the prize

The selected entrant must, within 14 days of the announcement, correctly answer, without assistance, a mathematical skill-testing question, provide their full legal name and an email address, and confirm they meet these rules. If the entrant does not do so, or is found ineligible, the prize is forfeited and an alternate winner may be selected by repeating the draw without that entrant. The Sponsor may ask for proof of identity and residency before paying the prize. The winner is responsible for any taxes on the prize.

8. Fair play

The Sponsor may disqualify anyone who cheats, uses bots or scripts, tampers with the games or scores, opens more than one account, or breaks these rules, and may void their entries. Decisions of the Sponsor on all matters about the contest are final, subject to applicable law.

9. Publicity

If you are selected, your display name and province are shown to other players only if you tick the box when claiming. Otherwise the winner is shown as "A Bash player from [province]".

10. Privacy

Your personal information is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. General

The Sponsor may cancel, change or suspend the contest if it cannot run as planned, for example because of fraud, technical failure or other causes outside its control, and will post the change here. The Sponsor is not responsible for failed or delayed connections or lost entries. These rules are governed by the laws of [Alberta] and the federal laws of Canada. Questions: [contact email].
